Senior Association of Indian Nationals of Tucson
A History of SAINT
An Overview
SAINT (Seniors Association of Indian Nationals of Tucson) was founded on August 30, 2017, by senior members of the India Society of Southern Arizona (ISSA) to address the unique needs of seniors in the community. Recognizing the importance of supporting physical and emotional health, medical care, transportation, spiritual well-being, and other essential aspects of senior life, the group convened multiple meetings to identify key concerns and establish a framework for action. Their collective efforts led to the creation of a mission statement and by-laws, which were shared with potential members for input. On the day of its formation, fourteen families met at Dr. Mishra’s home, electing Dr. Amita Trivedi, Sulochana Konur, and Amarjeet Dhaliwal as team leaders, Vinod Sanan as treasurer, and Prakash Rao as secretary. An annual membership fee of $100 per family was approved, and ten families became paid members that day. Today, SAINT operates as part of ISSA’s non-profit organization, benefiting from its status, with a growing membership and a shared commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors in Tucson.
Our Approach
To achieve the mission of SAINT, our activities and services focus on three key areas:
1. Essential Resources and Services
We provide support in critical areas such as transportation, home care, emergency response, and referrals to health and psychological service providers.
2. Social Support
Our initiatives aim to promote social, psychological, and spiritual well-being by offering tailored assistance to meet the unique needs of our senior community.
3. Education and Recreation
We organize lectures, seminars, movie screenings, and group outings to places of interest, fostering connection and reducing social isolation.
To ensure engagement and ongoing collaboration, SAINT holds monthly meetings to plan and enhance these efforts.
